Formby
Hall Golf Club
Formby Hall Golf Club, constructed in only 1996, has already built an excellent
reputation as a challenging coastal course maintained to a high standard.
The setting and the golf test have helped make the club a well established
venue for the European Challenge.
This year, Formby Hall will also be hosting the prestigious English Senior’s
Open!
Preparation of the course for both competitions involved a great deal
of hard work from Paul Wylie (Course Manager) and his assistant Paul Spencer.
This included major tee re-construction. Previously rye grass had never
been used on the
course but last winter they decided to break from the mould and put Lawna™
to the test.
Lawna™ was used on tees, fairways, bunkers, and surrounds. It proved
fantastic.
In the past, heavy traffic in these areas always led to terrible wear
and tear causing no end of problems for Paul and his team. But Lawna™
stood the test of time, re-generating itself quickly in worn-out areas
and enjoying an excellent appearance all year round, pleasing members
and greens staff alike.
Paul Spencer :“I am very pleased with Lawna™. We found the
blend ideal, very durable-it coped with the heavy traffic on the course.
We will definitely be using it again this year. Plus the service we received
from
Turfland was spot on.”
Over an acre of Lawna™ was also used on the construction of the
new driving range last year.
