Turfland are
offering schools the chance to grow their own vegetables by
providing them with the opportunity to purchase complete
raised bed kit/kits; including vegetables. The kit has been
especially devised for use in schools ensuring that the
vegetables included are ready to harvest by the end of the
academic year (mid July). A 2mx1m raised bed is included so
that the vegetable garden is clean and easy to maintain
without too much tending, weeding and overall maintenance. If
ordered, delivery would take place in April directly to
the school by Turfland.
A vegetable garden on the
school site allows children who may be unable to participate
in such activities at home the opportunity to grow their own
plants and vegetables, as well as teaching the children about
a healthy diet. It is also proven that children are more
likely to eat salad or vegetables if they have grown them
themselves.
Many schools around the country have
already participated in such schemes with great success. The
kit can also be used over many years as it is designed using
durable plastic. If you wish to take part it is recommended
that you order as soon as possible as this will guarantee
delivery by the end of April and ensure that the salad
vegetables are ready for harvest by the end of the academic
year.
The vegetables come as young plants, not seed,
to make planting and growing easier.
