Hunting the ditches!
This beautiful shot was taken at Turfland's Mere Hall Farm where we have a number of nesting barn owl's. They love it out on the mere as all the turf fields are surrounded by drainage/irrigation ditches which provide an abundance of food for them. We are conscious of the wildlife that surrounds our fields and we make sure that we leave a large border along the edges of the ditches when we plough. We provide the boxes for the Barn Owls to nest in and clean them out each season. As well as Barn owls we also have Tawny and Little owls although the barn owl is the only one to be seen out during daylight hours. |
