Turf Protection Information
Here at Turfland we have a turf protection scheme as part of our turf management scheme. Our production manager has introduced this scheme to protect the turf crops against pests and diseases
One of the biggest threats to any turf producer is the leather jacket. These are crane fly larvae and enjoy nothing more than eating away at grass roots. As part of our turf protection scheme we field walk on a regular basis and at the first sign of any of these wee beasties we will take action to eradicate them. Luckily our soil types are not favourable to these particular pests so we rarely see any sign of them.
Another threat to our turf crop is of course turf disease which can devastate a crop if not kept in check. Our turf protection scheme includes an autumn regime of fungicide treatment which prevents any hint of disease affecting our turf and ensures that all our turf is disease free when it is delivered to our customers.
