Their Teaching Approach

Within the school there is a strong emphasis on stories and vocabulary. This focus helps children gain a love of reading and a broader understanding of the world in which they live. Importance is placed on developing children’s skills in literacy and numeracy and these skills are reinforced through other subjects. Many subjects are taught through a topic-based approach so children can make links with their own learning. They endeavour to show the children how wonderful and diverse our world is. Children learn about the past and present to help prepare them for their future.

Positive relationships at edmund-de-moundfund help the children learn to be strong and independent. Whilst enabling environments help the to learn and develop further. As ever children develop and learn in different ways at different rates. It is for this reason there is a balance of adult lead and play based independent activities. Much of the learning is geared around the interests of the children. The curriculum is organised into three prime areas of learning which are Communication and Language; Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional development. The outside learning space is utilised throughout the year.

What did we do?

So it was into this scenario that Turfonline provided a consignment of play bark to help the school finish their new play area at the school.

We design our play grade bark to perform well in many situations providing a cost-effective solution to many gardening problems. It has excellent weed suppression and water retention properties. Not only that but it will also retain its decorative appearance for many years. This bark has fire-resistant characteristics making it suitable for commercial schemes as a landscaping mulch as well as an ornamental decorative garden bark for a wildflower garden.

Our pine nuggets are non-staining and frost resistant and when installed to a depth of 350mm will last for up to 6 years. To ensure safety for play areas this bark is tested to BS EN 1177:1998, making it an ideal alternative to synthetic play surfaces.
