Delivery – What you need to know:

Products from Turfonline will be delivered by one of three ways:

Our bulk products – WILL BE DELIVERED as a KERBSIDE DELIVERY.  So that means that we deliver as close as we possibly can to your site but cannot necessarily put goods into your garden. These are delivered using a pump truck which has small wheels.  These will not work on soft ground or gravel and  cannot negotiate kerbs.

Most of our bulky items are delivered using 32-tonne rigid trucks or 44 tonne articulated trucks. To clarify, bulky products means our turf, wildflower turf, sedum matting, topsoil and similar products. These trucks are ideal for reaching the majority of UK addresses, but it’s possible that your delivery could be made by a different vehicle.

Furthermore, we use a manual pallet trolley to unload turf and bulk products which are lowered to the road by the tail lift on the truck.

To offload the pallet, the surface must be flat and level.

Since turf and topsoil can be heavy, and the pallet trolley pulled by the driver has small wheels, pallets cannot be delivered onto soil, grass or gravel. So a tarmac or paved surface is required. Not only that but it is also important to ensure you have a level surface – as pump trucks cannot operate on slopes!

  • Topsoil – Our bulk topsoil will be delivered  in a dumpy bag (like the ones you see at builders’ merchants) containing 0.60m³ of topsoil.
    Our topsoil is Grade 1.
  • Turf / wildflower turf – Our turf or wildflower turf will be delivered on a pallet.

Please remember you should arrange for live products to be delivered on the day you will lay them.

In addition, we recommend you start laying immediately upon delivery.

How To Order

  • Simply place your order online
  • Deliveries are made Tuesday-Saturday.
  • You can choose your preferred date and time at the checkout.

We aim to deliver all other products within 5 working days.

Access & Delivery Restrictions

  • Most of our deliveries are made using either 32 tonne rigid trucks or 44 tonne articulated lorries with a tail lift and pallet truck.
  • If we can’t fit a big lorry down your road, please let us know ASAP so that we can be sure to send a smaller vehicle. Extra charges may apply in some cases.
  • Similarly, we don’t have lifting equipment, so we cannot lift bags of soil over a garden wall.
  • If you wish the goods to be placed on your driveway then a solid flat, level surface i.e. tarmac or a paved drive is required.
  • Our drivers will do their best to place your delivery where you wish – but this is at their discretion.
  • If there are access or other restrictions which will prevent vehicles above a certain size reaching your address, please let us know.

  • Special arrangements can be made within the Shipping Method stage of the checkout process.
  • If there are other offloading or parking restrictions which could affect the delivery please let us know.
  • During checkout you will be asked what size vehicle can reach your property
  • If you are unsure please contact us to discuss.

If delivery cannot be made due to a reason you failed to make us aware of, the full cost of distribution and products will be charged to you.

  • 8am – 11am – Delivery will be made between 8am and 11am on the day selected

We are proud that most of our deliveries arrive on time.

  • Sometimes, circumstances beyond our control (extreme weather, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns) can delay delivery.

What To Do If Your Delivery Is Delayed

  • If your delivery has not been made during these times please get in touch.
  • If you have paid for a timed delivery we will refund any additional charge and keep you updated on the progress of your order.

Do I need to be at home

  • Yes, please.
  • Turf is perishable. For perishable goods, if you are not in and there is nowhere safe to leave your goods you will still be charged in full.
  • In most cases where we can deliver to your tarmac or solid drive, we can leave the goods without a signature.
  • This will be at your own risk.
  • It is better if you are in to receive and sign for your goods because of the perishability of our living products.

  • Upon delivery please inspect your turf immediately.
  • If you are not entirely satisfied you must inform us immediately upon delivery. Where this is not possible we must be informed within 24 hours of delivery as we will not accept any liability for defects that occur after that time.

  • Palletised Order Delivery Charges Inc. VAT (delivery charge is per order NOT per pallet)
  • For our conditions of supply click here.
  • Some postcodes demand a 2-day service. Because of the perishable nature of turf, we are unable to offer delivery to these areas;

HS, IV4+, KW, PA20+, PH18+, ZE

Due to the perishable nature of turf, we recommend you order your turf for the day you intend to lay it. Turf is a living product grown outside in varying soil conditions. As such, its appearance can be noticeably different in response to these conditions, the weather and time of year.

We cannot be held responsible for miss-matching if consignments are delivered separately, but please be assured that once the turf is properly established the grasses will adapt to their new environment and take on a more uniform appearance.
