Designing and specifying a living green roof

Enviromat are pleased to announce that we can offer FREE CPD seminars to architects, landscape architects and garden designers. All you need to supply is the audience (minimum 10 people) and the venue.

This 45 minute (ish) presentation is generic and looks at the most important things to consider when designing or specifying a living green roof.

What’s in the presentation?

Designing a green roof is all about finding the most sustainable solution for  the situation.  There may be restrictions on loadings, on aspect, planning or environmental factors.  These will be different for every project so there is no “one size fits all”.

Some specifiers are brilliant at structural considerations but struggle with the plant selection bit of green roofing.  This presentation is ideal for folks who want a bit of horticultural help.

Definition of a green roof

What is a green roof? What is it for? Why do we need them?

Engineering meets ecology

Why green roofing needs a holistic approach.  How to maximise sustainability by about matching the needs of the building with the clients’ wish list and needs of the plants.

Sustainable planting

Which plants work best and what sort of growing medium should I be choosing?

Maintenance

What, if any, maintenance will be needed?

What does it cost?

There is no charge for a CPD presentation – it’s completely Free

About the presenter

The presentation is usually delivered by myself, Angela Lambert. I’m the Marketing Coordinator for Harrowden Farms.

I’ve worked for Harrowden Farms for 20 + years.  I was involved with the launch of Enviromat sedum matting 12 years ago and the introduction of Meadowmat wild flower matting in 2012.

I’m a farmers’ wife, beekeeper, gardener and granny.  I truly believe that life is so much easier if we learn from and work with Mother Nature……but I’m also fascinated by technology.

I use the dreaded powerpoint as a prompt and to make sure I don’t forget to tell you something important but for the most part, I’m most comfortable answering your questions.

If, when you book a presentation, you let me know which aspect of green roofing you want to learn more about, I’ll do my best to go into as much detail as possible for you.  (I’m not an engineer though, I can’t even begin to answer questions about bricks or girders or things like that)

How to book a CPD presentation for your organisation

In the first instance, send me a message via the “contact us” page on this website.  Let me know whereabouts in the country you are and what your preferred dates/times would be…and we’ll go from there.
