Summer Carnival Seed Mix
Contains 15 species of wildflower and Rehofix bulking granules for ease of sowing. Long flowering period that starts approximately eight weeks after sowing. Long flowering period from June to November.
Mix of native and non native annuals designed to give a display of bright and bold colours.
What is an annual?
An annual is a plant that completes its life cycle, from germination through to the production of seeds, all within one growing season. After setting seed the plant then dies. The species in this mix will not grow back year after year unless they are allowed to self seed.
Key Points
- Flowering Time: June to November (depending on local weather conditions).
- Although Summer Carnival seeds can be sown at any time of year, if you would like it to flower in its first summer we recommend sowing seeds before the end of March.
- Each of the species will respond differently to soil type, local weather conditions and care regimes.
Maintenance
Cut down once the flowering period is over, this will likely be sometime in October depending on the growing season. The area should be cultivated and resown ready for the next year. The ideal sowing time is spring. Seeds can be collected for resowing in future years.
Sowing Instructions
- Ideally this mix should be sown in spring when the soil is warm and moist. Late March and early April are the optimum times. Can be sown right through to June for flowers that year.
- Ground preparation is essential to ensure Summer Carnival performs at its best. The seed should be sown on to bare ground only. Under no circumstances should it be sown into an existing lawn. The seed should have good soil contact and can be very lightly covered. Shake the bag well before use to ensure the seeds are well mixed.
- Dig over the area and thoroughly rake to remove any debris and create a fine tilth. If your garden soil is rich in nutrients, remove as much of it as you can and replace it with low nutrient topsoil.
- Sow the seeds where you want them to grow. The recommended rate for Summer Carnival seed is 30g/m². Sprinkle the seed as evenly as possible being careful not to sow seeds too thickly – the plants will need plenty of room to grow.
- Newly sown seed needs light and water to germinate. Do not cover the seed. Water lightly – be careful not to wash them away! Protect from birds. For best results, keep the soil and seeds moist until the plants have germinated and are well established.
- Contains Rehofix bulking granules to ensure even sowing.
- Shake well before use
- Top tip -for a more diverse display sow in two stages a couple of weeks apart.

The actual percentage of each species contained may vary due to environmental factors. Turfonline makes every effort to ensure wildflower products are free from weeds and pests, however due to the natural way in which these products are grown we cannot guarantee they are 100% pest free on delivery. The variation of species present has been developed to suit a wide variety of soils and environmental conditions. This will result in a product that will adapt to individual settings which may mean some species are more successful than others. Contains a mix of native and non native annual species. If sown after June some species may not flower. As this is an annual mix, resowing will be required for subsequent years.
