Our Sedum Green Roof Kits are designed for use on roofs with a slope of 3 – 20 degrees. Therefore, if you have a flat roof with a slope of 3 degrees or less, please check out our Flat Roof Kits.
More than just a fad or decorative novelty, a living green roof provides insulation. They can help prevent flooding, filter pollutants from the air, absorb noise and provide food and shelter for a vast variety of wildlife.
Each of our green roof kits, designed for pitched roofs, comes with the main ingredients that you need to transform your gently sloping roof into a true green sedum roof. Each kit contains a root barrier to protect your waterproofing from any potential root damage, as well as a living carpet of gorgeous hardy sedum plants. From the moment you unroll Enviromat® Sedum Matting your roof will be carpeted with vegetation.
Every single one of the sedum mats we use in our Enviromat® sedum roof kits is seeded with up to 17 different types of sedum which have been nurtured outdoors in our nursery for at least 9 – 12 months. We ensure that every single plant is strong enough to dispatch to you, ensuring the best quality sedum mats for your green roofs. On top of this, each plant species is chosen for its disease resistance, drought tolerance, long flowering period and unenviable good looks.
All of our matting is made using recycled materials and products, meaning that you can feel safe that your new green roof kit is environmentally friendly from nursery to home. It is very strong and easy to install, whilst also carefully designed to keep the growing medium within the mat. This means that you won’t see any loss of substrate through the handling or transportation of the green roof kit, or from heavy rain after installation.
Our green roof kits all come with sedums that are drought-tolerant, meaning that they only need to be watered occasionally during extended periods of dry weather. On top of this, they are all low maintenance and only requiring a specialist sedum feed every spring, unless your roof is pitched at a steep angle or exposed to drying wind.
For potential sedum roofs with a pitch of 10 degrees or more, we strongly recommend installing an irrigation system and applying feed in early spring and early summer.
Sedum Roof Preparation
Please ensure that your roof is suitable for a sedum green roof. It must be able to carry a weight of 120kg per square metre without compromising the building structure. This figure includes ‘live loading’ such as a coating of snow or a person walking on the roof.
Additionally, waterproofing needs to be in good condition, as a green roof build-up will make it more difficult to make repairs once the layers are in place.
If your flat roof has no upstand, you will need to create an edging to protect the green roof build-up. Please get in touch with the TurfOnline Team if you need advice on how to do this.

Perishable living products should be installed on the day of delivery. In the unlikely event that your product does not arrive in good condition please get in touch immediately with photos showing the issue.
The actual percentage of each species contained may vary due to environmental factors. Turfonline makes every effort to ensure its products are free from weeds and pests, however due to the natural way in which these products are grown we cannot guarantee they are 100% pest free on delivery. May contain some grasses and mosses. Enviromat may not contain all species that are listed. The variation of species present has been developed to suit a wide variety of installations and environmental conditions. This will result in a product that will adapt to individual settings which may mean some species are more successful than others.
