Sedum Green Roof Kit for Flat Roofs

If you have a sloping roof of 3 degrees, then please take a look at our Pitched Roof Kits, where you can find a range of green roof kits that are perfectly suited to your sloping roof.

Green Roofing is becoming more and more mainstream as architects, garden designers, property developers and householders work harder to improve eco-efficiency and combat the effects of climate change. There are a plethora of benefits associated with a green roof, not least that it creates a real talking point.

Enviromat®’s green roof kit comes with everything you need to turn your standard, dull space into a delightful green roof, full of plants and flowers.

First of all, is a root barrier to make sure the plants cannot damage your waterproofing. Next comes a layer of specially engineered drainage mat to protect against damage to the building and sedum. This is because green roof sedums dislike wet conditions. This matting ensures that excess water is wicked away from the roots, keeping you flat green roof secure and healthy.

Last but by no means least is your Enviromat®. A pre-grown green roof mat consisting of a carrier fleece for easy handling, specially formulated growing medium and of course, sedum plants. Plant coverage is at least 95%, this means from the moment your Enviromat® is unrolled, your roof is fully planted.

We’re very proud of Enviromat® and hope you’ll like it as much as we do. It’s grown out of doors, in the UK, so has a low carbon footprint and is well adapted to our climate. There’s a lovely mix of plant species and it flowers merrily for at least 6 months of the year.

The patented carrier fleece contains recycled materials that hold the growing permanently medium in place. That means minimal substrate loss during the handling process, less fiddling about and less slippage once the blankets are in situ.

Sedums plants are very easy to care for. Being succulent plants, they cope well with drought conditions and once established will only need a very occasional watering extremely dry weather. Feeding is important though. Please be sure to apply a specialist sedum feed every spring.

Before you begin

Your roof must have a load bearing capacity of at least 120Kg per square metre in order to install a flat green roof through Enviromat®. Please note that this includes the weight of live loading, such as a person walking on the roof in order to install the flat green roof or carry out maintenance.

It is important to note that your Enviromat® green roof buildup does not double as waterproofing. Please ensure that your roof is fully waterproofed before adding your Sedum Green Roof Kit for Flat Roofs. After you have waterproofed your roof and made sure that it can withstand the necessary weight, you can move on to install your new Enviromat® flat green roof.

Drainage for every flat green roof should be efficient, to ensure that there is no excess moisture and water build up. If rainwater sits in puddles on your roof for any length of time, please seek professional advice before adding your green roof buildup.

Every green roof needs an edging to protect against wind uplift and dried out plants. You can purchase proprietary green roof edging, you can make it yourself or you can take advantage of an existing roof upstand. If you need advice on how to do this, please email the Turfonline Team.

Perishable living products should be installed on the day of delivery. In the unlikely event that your product does not arrive in good condition please get in touch immediately with photos showing the issue.

The actual percentage of each species contained may vary due to environmental factors. Turfonline makes every effort to ensure its products are free from weeds and pests, however due to the natural way in which these products are grown we cannot guarantee they are 100% pest free on delivery. May contain some grasses and mosses. Enviromat may not contain all species that are listed. The variation of species present has been developed to suit a wide variety of installations and environmental conditions. This will result in a product that will adapt to individual settings which may mean some species are more successful than others.

Can you take my pallet away? Unfortunately not - please can you reuse or recycle.
  • For palletised goods our standard service will be delivered between 8am - 8pm. We are requested not to contact the delivery depot for ETAs until the afternoon. Therefore if your delivery is not with you by around 2-3pm please get in touch and we can find out what time it should be with you.

For all palletised goods, during the checkout process you can select your required delivery date along with any timed upgrades. For parcels, these are despatched on the next business day.

Bulky items like Turf, Topsoil and Wildflower Turf can be delivered Tuesday to Friday. We can also offer deliveries on Saturdays for an additional charge. For orders placed before 10am we can even offer a next day delivery. Please select your preferred delivery date from the available dates during the checkout process. This is dependent on the delivery postcode.
What delivery services do you offer? - Standard all day delivery is included in the price for most areas of the UK. There are surcharges for some areas and options to upgrade to timed services for an additional cost.
We offer kerbside delivery, so pallets are usually left on the road to the front of your property. We can occasionally deliver to your driveway if it is flat, level and a solid surface, and if the kerb is dropped enough for a pallet truck to roll over it whilst fully loaded.

Your Delivery

Turf Online aims to give its customers the best possible experience by delivering the best quality products for sale in the UK. Therefore, all our perishable products are harvested fresh to order the day before delivery, and we even accept orders for next-day delivery!

Delivery charges and services vary by different types of turf and delivery location. Charges are confirmed at checkout before payment. If your order includes grass turf, topsoil, Wildflower Turf or Sedum mats, you can choose your delivery day. You should arrange for live products to be delivered on the day you will lay them. Reducing the amount of time the product is stored means significantly less potential nuisance when it comes to installation; certain issues will not have had a chance to rise. All other products are delivered within 5 working days (or usually sooner!).

How Is Your Product Delivered?

We recommend that you only make arrangements for tradespeople to carry out work on your behalf after your turf or other products have been delivered.

PLEASE NOTE: Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum Mats and bulk Bag products are delivered on a pallet and can only be delivered to the kerbside.

Most of our products for sale in the UK will be delivered by being transported by a pallet courier that primarily uses 18-tonne rigid trucks that are built for reaching the majority of UK addresses. However, it is possible that your delivery could be made on a larger vehicle. If access or other restrictions prevent vehicles above a certain size reaching your address, or there are other offloading or parking restrictions which could affect the delivery, let us know in the delivery notes section of checkout so that special delivery arrangements can be made. Please make sure you double check the delivery postcode and address carefully as after your order has been shipped, it is likely we will not be able to make any amendments to your order or address.

Delivery is unloaded using a manual pallet trolley which is lowered to the road by the tail lift on the truck. Unfortunately, we do not offer Hiab (truck-mounted crane) deliveries. To offload the pallet, the surface must be flat and level. Since Turf, Wildflower Turf, Sedum and topsoil can be heavy, and the pallet trolley pulled by the driver has small wheels, pallets cannot be delivered onto soil, grass or gravel – a tarmac or paved surface is required.

Kerbside delivery means that our products for sale in the UK is delivered as close as possible to the delivery address you provide. Our helpful drivers will do their best to place your delivery where you wish, such as a driveway, but this is at their discretion. If your delivery address is hard to find or the property is a new build, consider using what3words to pinpoint your delivery location. More information on what3words can be found in our Help Centre.

For more information on how The Pallet Network delivers our different types of products, please watch this short video.

What Issues Could Arise With Delivery?

If your product delivery cannot be made due to a reason you failed to make us aware of, the full cost of distribution and products will still be charged to you. We are proud that most of our turf deliveries arrive on time. Sometimes, circumstances beyond our control (extreme weather, road accidents, vehicle breakdowns or IT failures) can delay delivery, but we will make every effort to keep you updated in such an event.
