Mobilane Green Screen – Hedera helix ‘Woerner’ (120cm W x 200cm H)
Mobilane's Hedera helix 'Woerner' Green Screen is a classic dark green ivy with large shiny leaves and prominent white veins. Especially vigorous and hardy, this variety of Ivy is one of the most frost resistant and weather tolerant.
The varieties of ivy used for green screens are less aggressive than the intrusive varieties often deemed a negative nuisance. The Hedera helix variety are not a self-attaching, slow growing and only need pruning once a year, regularly hydrated and fertilised to keep them looking their best.

The Mobilane Green Screen needs a humus rich soil suitable for planting shrubs. The trench must be at least 40 cm deep. The soil must be water permeable with good drainage. The soil must be free of debris and not have impermeable clay layers to allow the plant roots to grow down deep into the ground. There should be no barriers (plastic sheets, concrete slabs for example) to prevent the establishment of a healthy root system. In cases where the soil is not rich in humus, a good quality compost should be added.Watering, Pruning & Fertilising:
Don’t forget to look after your new hedge though. Depending on the season of planting, fertiliser will be needed. During the first year after planting, regular watering is also advised. The best pruning months are April/May and September/October.Brackets:
There are two types of brackets available, a wall mount bracket for attaching to a flat surface and a post bracket which can be used with most types of fence posts.- Screens of 220 cm height require 6 brackets per screen,
- Screens of 180 cm height require 4 brackets per screen,
- Screens of 100 cm height require 4 brackets per screen.
Installation:
Download our installation and maintenance guide here- Leave about 3 cm between the posts and the screen to allow the plant stems to swell between the iron grid of the screen and the posts.
- The measurements between the posts must adhere to a centre-to-centre distance of 130 to 132 cm.
- Please note that for the total length of the installation there is always at least one more post needed than the number of screens used.
